A frequent and damaging problem that many homeowners will eventually deal with is water leak under concrete floor. Slab leaks are a cause of annoyance and present new difficulties for homeowners who are fortunate enough to have never dealt with one. Imagine entering the living room and coming across a strange moist area. If you need a plumber, do you call your insurance company? Your floors will be ripped up. Will it result in mold, necessitating the repair of flooring and walls after water damage, etc.? Will you continue to have leaks? One of the most aggravating plumbing issues our clients deal with is slab leaks, which are enormous hassles.

Many factors, including thermal expansion and high water pressure, contribute to slab leaks. Every property with plumbing experiences thermal expansion, which is one of the main reasons copper pipe under the slab leaks. When water is continually heated and cooled, as it does with conventional tank water heaters, thermal expansion occurs.

Because of pipe expansion and contraction, copper piping can rub against a concrete surface and develop a pinhole leak. All water heaters are now required to have an expansion tank as part of the Uniform Plumbing Code in order to offer a location to release pressure and prevent it from returning into the house.

Water leak under concrete and other types of leaky home fittings may also be caused by variations in water pressure. By employing a pressure regulator to change the high pressure coming in from the city water, homeowners may regulate the water pressure entering their homes. Inside, the water pressure should range from 60 to 80 PSI.

Despite the possibility of fast detection, slab leaks often start off slowly, with a tiny pinhole breach that gradually releases water. If a leak is sluggish, a homeowner might not notice anything is wrong until the symptoms appear.
